Farmer Boy (Team USA) went down Saturday night to a stacked Conestoga Wood team 3-2. CW started the scoring early in the game and kept the lead for the remainder of the first. Farmer Boy tied the game in the 2nd period on a goal by top prospect Jesse Aungst from a great pass from behind the net by his veteran brother Jarrod. CW scored again late in the 2nd. In the third period Jarrod Aungst took a double minor for checking from behind sending the CW player head first into the boards causing a ruckus as the player lay motionless on the ice for a few minutes. It only took the Wood Ducks about 30 seconds to score their 3rd goal. That same power play, Team USA managed a shorthanded goal by Ray Horning on a rebound off a Mitch Hertzler shot making the score 3-2 and that is the way the game ended after Team USA failed to tie with their goalie pulled.
Team USA was without some of their key players while other were playing through injuries.
One important note to mention is that JR Weiler was a no show ending his self proclaimed status as iron man.
Farmer Boy will try to improve their record to 2-1 on Thursday night against the Crunch.

Looks like Team USA went back to old faithful. Calling out the speedy veteran Willie Weiler, he lit up the scoreboard like a Christmas Tree. Assisting on most of the 4 first goals then blowing a howitzer past the Crunch goaltender for goal number 5 of the night for Team USA. Not only did the most mature player on the team light the lamp, he also hustled back to help out on D like only a true veteran would do. It appears that Team USA will have to rely heavily on this Decorated Veteran in order to advance in this Tournament.

I am suprised that JR hasnt been on here to brag about his big hat trick last night.
I think our team definitely needs the veteran leadership and bringing #25 off the IR would be huge plus for the final 2 games. Willie can only light up goalies like a Christmas tree for so long by himself.
I only spelled your name Jarrod because that is how JR had it on the stats. I will change it when I get around to it.
Oh and if anybody needs help with any breathing techniques, I hear Kevin is the one to go to. And its nice to know that we have someone on our team with an appreciation for fine arts such as JR's skipping last game to attend a high school play.

Farmer Boy came out and played their "A" game last night defeating a Crunch team of wiley old veterans including former Farmer Boy stars Billy and Dave Ray. FB started the scoring early on a long slapshot by Kevin Weiler that deflected off the goalie's stick and into the net. At the end of the first, FB led 3-0. Halfway through the second period with the score 4-2, the backbreaker came as Farmer Boy scored two breakaway shorthanded goals from Mitch and JR Weiler less than a minute apart. The Crunch were never able to get back into the game as FB killed many penalties included a long 2 man disadvantage. The only powerplay goal of the night came from the stick of suprisingly solid defensemen Larry Boy Huber. The game ended as 10-3 victory for Farmer Boy.
Scoring for Team USA was JR Weiler (3), Mitch Hertzler (2), Willie Weiler, Kevin Weiler, Derrick Martin, Larry Huber, and Jesse Aungst.
FB was missing Troy Hertzler (wife worked late and shoulder), Ray Horning (having chowder in New Hamshire), and Duane Weiler (ankle). They hope to at least have Troy and Ray back for the final. Duane will be a game time decision.
The final game of the tournament will be Friday night as FB takes on an overachieving Phantoms team at the prime time ice slot of 10:00 PM. Fans are encouraged to wear Farmer Boy blue.
On another note, contract talks are still under nogotiation with allstar veteran Willie Weiler as this is the last year in his contract. They hope to be able to sign him to a two-year deal well worth over $1. ;D

Wow what a day! Thanks Boy Farmer for the post about my contract situation. The Media has been pounding our door down all day long begging for info. I had to promise them a post on this website to get all of them out of our living room. Here goes, because of the uncertainty of my life long linemate and fellow allstar #25 I refuse to make any decisions without lots of time to consider all the options. My agent has also been contacted by quit a few other teams about my free agent status! So to all you fans who supported us so faithfully over the seasons, Thank You and I will try to keep you posted. Did I mention the 4 assists I had against the Crunch Tuesday Night

After a gritty and gutsy performance, the Farmer Boy hockey team came out as champs of the Body Zone A hockey Tournament by defeating the aggressive Phantoms on Friday. Team USA didnt know if it was the pep talk before the game from goalie Scottie Donofrio or the inspiration they received from getting one of their allstar veterans back from the IR, but Farmer Boy came out flying right from the first faceoff. JR Weiler hit the post twice in his first two shifts of the game setting the pace for the offense. The game remained scoreless for much of the first until all-time Farmer Boy scoring leader Mitch Hertzler released a wicked backhander over the Phantome goalie to give FB the 1-0 lead. It didnt take long to get the 2nd goal as Troy Hertzler scored his next shift despite being plagued with a bad shoulder from an untimely deck demolition incident. Farmer continued to score and never looked back winning the game 8-0 giving goaltender Scott Donofrio his first shutout. Scoring for Team USA was Mitch Hertzler, Troy Hertzler (2), JR Weiler (2), Jesse Aungst with an amazing individual effort, Larry Boy Huber keeping his scoring streak alive, and John Weiler with the doorstep slam dunk.
The game was testy right from the start with the second period being filled with penalties, blood, and flying body checks from Amish players. The record crowd in the stands got worked up when young Jesse Aungst took a dirty hit blooding his nose. He sat on the bench for few minutes draing his nose into a grbage can. The Phantoms player received a 4 minute double minor.
The story of the game surrounded the many scouts in the stands from the Reading Royals who were in attendance to watch FB forward "lamp lighter" JR Weiler and he didnt disappoint with 5 breakaways and two goals. One of the scouts made the comment, "Some people campare him to Jim Dowd of the Flyers as they have similar body types and skating styles. He would be a great addition to the Royals." JR is not committing at this time saying he just wants to enjoy this victory for a while then get with his wife in a week or so and discus his future.
Notes: When defensemen Martin Weaver for the Phantoms was interviewed after the game he said, "79 is the most solid player I have ever tried to body check." ... This is the first team FB has won this tournament... Farmer Boy fans have much to celebrate but are also still concerned for next year with so many free agents. Of concern is of course Willie Weiler, Troy Hertzler and Kurt Good who has been holding out the last few weeks for more money. Also, restricted free agents Derrick Martin and Jesse Aungst can expect an offer sheets from other teams if FB doesnt work out some kind of deal within the next few weeks... Duane Weiler did not play due to ankle problems.
Looking forward to a great season next year.
